New Guild Masters and mLearning DemoFest Winners Announced at mLearnCon

At the co-located 2015 events mLearnCon and PerformanceSupport Symposium in Austin, Texas, The eLearning Guild announced two new GuildMasters. In addition, nine demonstrations were chosen as winners at the mLearningDemoFest held during mLearnCon.

Guild Master Awards

The eLearning Guild is a community of practice for thoseinvolved in eLearning and learning technologies. Our goal is to enable membersto share their knowledge, expertise, and ideas with other members—and oursuccess is dependent on members’ willingness to do so. The purpose of the GuildMaster Award is to recognize those members who have consistently contributed tothe community in terms of both quantity and quality of content—and thus helpedmake the community a vibrant center for learning.

The eLearning Guild is proud to announce the latest GuildMaster Awards, presented at mLearnCon 2015.

Chad Udell

Chad Udell has pushed the eLearning industry forward by challengingthe assumptions that many practitioners have made about learning and support onmobile devices. Chad’s contributions have helped us understand and takeadvantage of the possibilities that exist through the mobile technology that issuch a huge part of lives worldwide. His books, Mastering Mobile Learning and LearningEverywhere, have highlighted these new solutions. The Guild Master awardrecognizes his contributions to the Guild community and to the growth of theindustry in the mobile space.

Frank Nguyen

The performance support conversation has grown greatly overthe last few years as technology has sparked new interest and enabled newapplications in this important field. As the Guild saw this dynamic growthhappening we decided to support it and spread the word, but we needed a partnerwith the vision and experience needed to make this happen. Without Frank Nguyen,our newest Guild Master, there would be no Performance Support Symposium today.For many years Frank has been a leader in performance support, contributing to itsgrowth and helping people to understand that this is what we need to bethinking about in order to transform the way we get results in workplaceorganizations. It is most fitting that The eLearning Guild recognizes FrankNguyen for his contributions.

DemoFest winners

This year’s mLearning  DemoFest featured 28 demonstrations presentedby conference participants. They showed off their latest and greatestdevelopment efforts to hundreds of other attendees. This event gave everyonewho attended an opportunity to see a wide variety of solutions to differenteLearning and performance support challenges.

Demonstrators shared their insights about the tools,technologies, and processes that they used in building their projects. Theaudience voted on the demonstrations, and tabulation of the votes identifiedthe best solutions. In addition, representatives from the mLearning DemoFestsponsor, Wisetail, also named the recipient of a special award.

  • Wisetail Award: Tim Slade, “How to Cook aTurkey: A First-timers’ Guide to Thanksgiving”
