SimpleK12 – A Teachers of Tomorrow Company
About the Project
SimpleK12 provides online professional development for K-12 educators. As we evolve our learning experience, we are undertaking a comprehensive audit of our existing catalog of 1,000+ professional learning courses.
We’re looking for a contract Content Audit Specialist to help us evaluate, organize, and make recommendations about our existing content library.
This is not simply a data-entry project. We’re looking for someone who can combine structured analysis with good judgment about educational content: What’s still relevant? What’s outdated? What’s duplicative? What’s worth keeping? And where is there great underlying content that could become a much better learning experience?
What You’ll Do
● Review and categorize approximately 1,000+ existing K-12 professional development courses.
● Gather and organize available course information, including topic, age, presenter, usage, completion, ratings, and other available performance data.
● Evaluate content for relevance, currency, quality, and potential duplication or overlap.
● Identify clearly outdated or obsolete content.
● Assess whether valuable existing content could be repurposed or transformed into stronger learning experiences.
● Assign each course a recommended disposition: Keep, Refresh, Transform, Retire, or Needs Review.
● Assign priority recommendations to help guide future investment.
● Identify courses that require additional internal or subject-matter-expert review.
● Document concise, actionable reasoning for recommendations.
● Surface broader patterns across the library, including content strengths, gaps, duplication, and transformation opportunities.
● Partner with the SimpleK12 Product and Content teams to calibrate recommendations and ensure consistent application of the audit framework.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, organized, curious, and comfortable making judgment calls. Strong candidates may have experience in:
● K-12 education or educator professional development
● Instructional design or learning experience design
● Curriculum or content evaluation
● Digital learning or EdTech
● Content strategy or content operations
● Learning management systems or large digital content libraries
You should be able to look beyond whether a course is simply “good” or “bad.” For example, a 60-minute webinar may no longer be an ideal learning format but could contain excellent material that should be transformed into shorter lessons, activities, scenarios, or other learning experiences.
You’ll Be Successful If You…
● Can work independently through a large volume of content without losing consistency.
● Are comfortable working with both quantitative data and qualitative judgment.
● Can quickly distinguish between content that needs deep review and content where the decision is relatively obvious.
● Understand what makes educational content useful, credible, current, and engaging.
● Can recognize when you don’t have enough information to make a confident recommendation.
● Keep documentation clear and concise rather than over-analyzing every course.
● Are comfortable working within a framework while also identifying patterns or opportunities we may not have anticipated.
Project Approach
We will begin with a pilot of approximately 25 representative courses. Together, we’ll review the recommendations, calibrate the audit rubric, and make adjustments before moving into the larger catalog.
The goal is not to preserve the size of the existing library or redesign every course during the audit.
What should move forward with us, what should be left behind, and where does our existing content give us the best opportunities to build something better?
Deliverables
● A completed audit of the assigned SimpleK12 content library
● Recommended disposition and priority for each course
● A clear list of content recommended to move forward versus retirement
● A prioritized refresh backlog
● A prioritized content-transformation backlog
● Identification of duplicate, outdated, or overlapping content
● A summary of key portfolio-level findings and recommendations
