Rapid Prototyping Branching Scenarios

Virtual Event

October 30 @ 10:00 am 11:30 am EDT

Free

Interested in creating branching scenarios, but worried about how much time they take to create and if SMEs and stakeholders will see the value? In this hands-on, 90-minute online workshop, you’ll work through the process of mapping out, writing, and prototyping a branching scenario. Interactive prototypes help SMEs and stakeholders understand how branching scenarios work because they can make choices and see the alternate paths.

Starting from a provided scenario introduction, you’ll practice crafting effective questions, choices, and feedback all while using the free, open-source program Twine (https://twinery.org/). You’ll map out a basic branching structure and alternate paths for your scenario. Because Twine is specifically designed for creating nonlinear content, it can speed up your planning, writing, and prototyping process. Once you create your prototype, you’ll test and review it to identify problems and make improvements. By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a brief but functional interactive branching scenario prototype along with the skills and tools to accelerate your scenario development process.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • A step-by-step process to create an interactive branching scenario prototype
  • How to craft effective questions, choices, and feedback in branching scenarios
  • Techniques for mapping the branching structure and alternate paths of a scenario
  • Tips for testing and reviewing branching scenario prototypes
  • How Twine accelerates the process of creating branching scenario prototypes
