In an AI-Heavy Learning World, Are You Building Connection or Just Creating Activity?

Virtual Event

August 12 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm EDT

Free

AI, automation, and learning technologies are changing how we design, deliver, and scale learning. But as the tools become more powerful, one question becomes even more important: are we creating learning experiences that feel meaningfully human, or are we simply creating more activity? Most virtual learning includes interaction. Polls, chat prompts, breakout rooms, whiteboards, and discussion questions are everywhere. While these activities can increase participation, they do not automatically create connection, relevance, or lasting impact.

In an AI-heavy learning world, human connection is not a soft extra. It is the design discipline that makes learning stick. In this session, we’ll challenge a common assumption in learning design: that more activity equals better engagement. Drawing on the InQuire Engagement Framework™️ and the Live Learning Formula™️, we’ll explore the difference between visible participation and genuine connection, and why that difference matters for learning that is attended, remembered, and applied. Participants will experience simple design and facilitation shifts that help learners move from passive attendance to personal relevance, shared meaning, and ownership of application. The session will offer a practical way to evaluate whether a virtual or hybrid learning experience is simply keeping people busy or creating the conditions for meaningful involvement and measurable human impact.

In this session, you will:

  • Identify the difference between activity, interaction, and genuine connection
  • Explore the design conditions that create relevance, safety, meaning, and learner ownership
  • Apply practical techniques that make live learning feel more human and useful
  • Use a repeatable framework to evaluate whether your learning experiences are creating activity or impact

If your virtual sessions are interactive but still not creating the depth, energy, or follow-through you want, this session will help you design for the connection that makes learning stick.
