All companies have rules, guidelines, policies, operating procedures, and strict regulations that employees are expected to know. State and federal agencies govern many basic activities of companies and add a layer of compliance that needs to be successfully communicated to employees. The challenge is to keep employees — who are required to view and demonstrate their understanding of the training material — interested and engaged in the training events that present these dry, boring, and even sleep-inducing subjects.

Participants in this session will learn how to use Adobe Captivate 5.5 to develop engaging, immersive learning environments. Captivate has extensive capabilities you can use to develop training that attracts your learners and keeps them involved in the learning process. You’ll learn how Blood Systems used Captivate to develop a learning environment that provides intermediate-level knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Processes (cGMP) in the blood-banking industry using an interface that interests learners and engages them in a storyline that makes the content “sticky.”

In this session, you will learn:

  • About the components of an immersive learning environment
  • About the design of a basic storyline and learning-environment concept
  • About the Captivate features and tools you can use to create discovery-learning opportunities
  • How to use “sticky” methods for presenting new material
  • About options for building easy-to-access reference areas for prior knowledge recall or searchable content
  • Various ways to check for learner understanding
