The economic turmoil of the past 24 months has tested the mettle and skills of many a successful leader. Change strikes and leaders huddle to craft a response. Regrettably, it is the people side of leadership that is frequently relegated to the back seat. The companies that remain resilient and successful and (and with their key talent in place) will be the ones with leaders who balance the paradoxical demands of driving the change and recovery initiatives, while simultaneously helping people cope and learn their way through the emotional fallout inherent in the process.
