HP sales representatives were frustrated with trying to find information, locate experts, and learn from others' experiences. In response, senior executives set aggressive goals to speed the adoption of a social-media platform, a platform designed to enhance collaboration among the globally dispersed sales teams to help win more business and build customer loyalty. To manage the change in behavior and work process, HP established a high-touch, informal, and on-the-job training program based on four principles: personal, free, simple, and accessible. By leveraging the enterprise-wide implementations of Microsoft Sharepoint, Brainshark, and Jive social-media software, HP successfully implemented an easy-to-navigate mobile-learning path.

Participants in this case-study session will learn how HP implemented mobile "microlessons" — short, mobile-ready, video-based learning modules — to tackle the problem of training a group of dispersed and increasingly mobile employees in an efficient and cost-conscious manner. You’ll learn how microlessons can provide learners with a continuous but invisible training path that seamlessly and almost painlessly insinuates training into the work day. You’ll discover the best ways to capitalize on readily available platforms and technology to design, develop, and deliver your own mobile microlessons.

In this session, you will learn:

  • About mobile microlessons
  • How to easily identify the most effective use of mobile deliverables within a training program
  • How to reduce development time through templates and reusable processes
  • Ways to establish better cross-functional collaboration for the learner
