Today’s constant introduction of new technologies challenges eLearning professionals to keep their learners engaged during both synchronous, virtual-classroom training and asynchronous, self-paced learning. But a recent survey found that while 50% of learning professionals had experience delivering in a virtual classroom, none of the respondents had ever used a 3D world as an alternative to classroom-based or self-paced learning. At the same time, 100% of the respondents said that exposure to and knowledge of new technologies gave them a competitive edge. Are 3D worlds a viable option for eLearning, and if so, why aren’t more learning professionals using this option?
