The Future of Mobile Learning: Wearable Technology
Online Events Archive
Online Forums 2014 - July 17, 2014
When we think about mobile learning, we often limit our design strategies to experiences delivered via smartphones and tablets. However the future of mobile is wearable technology, including glasses, watches, and more. What types of learning experiences could we create for wearable devices? The devices highlighted in this session aren’t quite ready for prime time and, in most cases, we’ve only seen a first iteration of each form factor. However, in five to seven years, wearable technology will be common and mobile-learning solutions will be delivered on more than just phones and tablets. By imagining the wearable devices of the future, we can stay ahead of the curve as instructional designers and developers. If you’re interested in what the future of mobile learning might look like, this session is for you.
This session will introduce participants to recent developments in the field of wearable technology, including Google Glass, smart watches, and more. In each case, you’ll learn the benefits, concerns, and potential markets for each technology. Finally, we’ll brainstorm ideas for creating learning experiences specifically designed for these types of devices.
In this session, you will learn:
- Which wearable devices have already been developed
- How the public perceives wearable devices
- When to expect wearable devices to become widely adopted
- How to design learning experiences for wearable devices
Novice-through-advanced designers, developers, managers, directors, VPs, and CLOs.
