As learning professionals, the primary objective of our work should be enabling our learners’ effective on-the-job performance at every changing moment. The only way we can accomplish this is by building solutions that address the entire journey performers make from the beginning stages of learning through the full range of challenges that can occur at the “moment of apply,” when learners are called on to actually perform. To effectively help learners become and remain competent in their individual and collective work, our solutions must support the fundamental “Five Moments of Need”: New, More, Apply, Solve, and Change. But here's the challenge: For most organizations, resources are already tight, and adding performance support to address these five moments of need might appear cost-prohibitive. This is where knowledge management can save the day.
Participants in this session will explore how knowledge management, learning management, and performance support intersect in an organizational strategy that can accommodate this broader approach to enabling learning and performance without increasing the overall cost to the organization.
In this session, you will learn:
- What the Five Moments of Need are
- Why each Moment of Need is critical to effective performance
- How learning and performance-support solutions can address these needs
- How you can combine knowledge management, learning management, and performance support into a single, effective, and affordable organizational learning and performance strategy
Audience:
Designers, developers, project managers, managers, directors, VPs, and CLOs. No specific knowledge required.
