The Learning Guild administered surveys in March and June to capture how the L&D industry was impacted and changing in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier research reports (COVID-19 and L&D: Present and Future and Evidence-based Ideas for Virtual Classrooms) examined how fundamental strategies have changed and demonstrated the escalated use of virtual platforms for training and educational purposes.

Also found in these surveys are growing concerns and fears for the emotional state of today’s workers. As we continue to pioneer the future of the L&D field, it is critical for companies to provide their employees with the psychological safety and support they need to prosper. In Psychological Safety: Critical for Learning?, Jane Bozarth defines psychological safety and its impact on both individual and group learning.

Psychological safety applies to several areas of interest for L&D professionals. Those that are covered in this report include:

  • Simulations and experimental learning
  • Best practices for facilitation
  • Team and collaborative work
  • Employee engagement
  • And more!
