What is the xAPI Cohort

The xAPI Cohort is a community of dedicated professionals looking to learn about and experiment with xAPI. Joining is a great opportunity for those who may be new to xAPI, looking for guidance on a project, or are wanting to connect and learn from like-minded individuals. Your Cohort experience includes 12 weekly sessions, access to the Cohort’s Slack channel, and the chance to get hands-on experience with xAPI.

Participants form learning pods (or teams) based on shared interests, working together throughout the semester on demos, case studies, or any other type of shared project that uses xAPI. Each Cohort features some predefined projects, so you have the option to either jump right into something that interests you or start with your own idea. Past projects have included an onboarding checklist that leverages the Internet of Things (IoT), a game that tracks user clicks as a way to identify UX gaps, and exploration of LMS-LRS interoperability.

When is the xAPI Cohort

The Spring 2024 Semester begins February 1, 2024.

xAPI Cohorts run twice a year in spring and fall “semesters” with live weekly sessions happening on Thursdays at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET. Sessions are programmed to provide introductory information, practical how-tos, and high-level discussions of the implications for our industry.

Learning pods (or teams) set their own meeting and schedules to put time toward group work. Note that you do not need to be part of a pod to participate in the Cohort. You can always enroll and observe the action, learning from the sidelines. Or if you’d like to dive deeper, you can also join more than one learning pod. The Cohort experience is whatever you’re comfortable with.

Missed a session?

All weekly sessions are recorded and shared among registered participants. That means you can register even if all you want is a session recording delivered to your inbox every Friday.

Plus, it's FREE

Enrollment for the xAPI Cohort is free! Each semester concludes with an xAPI Party (also free) where learning pods will have the chance to share the work they’ve done throughout the semester, what they learned along the way, and where they are now.

You don’t need to have participated in the xAPI Cohort to attend the Party— be sure to invite your friends and colleagues so you can show them all the hard work you’ve done throughout the semester!

Follow the xAPI Gnome on Twitter for updates about the xAPI Cohort and resources throughout the semester.
