If you’ve been in the field of eLearning for any length of time, you probably know the value of including various media in your courseware to add variety and enhance engagement. Voiceover narration is arguably the most commonly used media element for eLearning. In recent years, online voice-actor data banks have proliferated. At the same time, the market for synthesized voiceovers, or text-to-speech, has grown rapidly with technological advances. For both types of voiceovers, there can be a wide range in quality and cost. The result is a confusion of choices. How do you sort through all the options? And what’s really best for the learner?
In this session, you’ll hear Andrew’s thoughts on the current “state of the nation” for voiceovers in eLearning: where we’ve been, where we are today, and where we can expect to be in the next few years. You’ll also learn the importance of incorporating the all-important “human factor” to help ensure we are all communicating effectively with our learners.
In this session you will learn:
- What voiceovers add to eLearning, and when not to use them
- The price of choosing the wrong voiceovers
- The pros, cons, and best uses for synthesized voiceovers
- The pros, cons, and best uses for human voiceovers
- Strategies to embed the “human factor” in your eLearning
