802 Using Design Thinking to Create High Impact Learning Journeys

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Thursday, April 21

Salon 3/4

In a time when fragmented learning experiences yield hard-to-prove impact, it's time to do things differently from the beginning. But with competing priorities, widely different audiences who need development, and learning architecture that doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, what's the path to success? Imagine a repeatable and scalable way to evaluate and solve for your learners, discern how to best reach them, and incorporate new ways to deliver learning with impact that drives business results.

This is our moment! In this session, you'll learn to apply a universally applicable and easily adoptable design thinking approach, tools, and tips that practitioners and leaders can take and apply immediately. We'll share examples of this work in action and provide examples that you can emulate in your work. You'll pull pearls of wisdom through a variety of different examples—from initial concept through journey design and refinement. We'll answer your questions about existing programs and share our perspectives and recommendations to challenges you're facing, whether journey, stakeholder, measurement, or integration related. We'll also share what NOT to do. You will leave with a collection of templates and resources that you can use the day you get back to work.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to craft leader-learner personas that can be used as the basis for creating an innovative learning experience
  • How to design a journey experience that blends live, self-directed, curated content, social learning opportunities, and more
  • How to rethink and plan the transformation of your current content to align to the new modern journey design
  • How to measure the impact of skill building over time, including specific tools that you can incorporate
