409 Helping Frontline Leaders Accelerate Learning

Many leaders, designers, and trainers rely on frontline leaders to implement training and learning. Unfortunately, the frontline leaders are disinterested in the "added" role of being trainers. However, they can accelerate learning while in the workflow. The challenge is to provide frontline leaders a way of helping their workers improve performance not by more training, but rather by learning while they fix, solve, and improve work. The focus is on doing the work and, consequently, workers learn.
In this session, you will learn how to structure a program for frontline leaders to help them accelerate the learning with their team members. You will look closer into the difference between 7 and workflow learning. You will start by investigating diagnostic mindset, which propels individuals to continuously fix, solve, and improve work issues. You will discover that the diagnostic process is inherently a discovery and trial and error process that is a perpetual engine for learning. Workers and leaders are constantly learning without them knowing they are learning. This behavior describes the core practice of workflow learning. You will learn how to develop a templatized workflow acceleration of learning by asking key questions: What is the work situation? What is my analysis? What are my proposed solutions? What are my impacts? Where do I find reliable answers? How do I work and network with others to get results? The frontline leaders need not conduct training as train-trainers. They accelerate learning with their teams by improving their diagnostic thinking and processes.
