241 Design Thinking for Learning Leaders

The pressure is on. Leaders (and those who think like leaders) want to be agents of change. But with competing demands, technology transformations, and upheaval in how people work, it can be difficult to keep up, make smart decisions and generate new solutions.

This is a time for creative thinking with a new mindset and new methods. Design Thinking is one approach that fulfills both of these requirements. It’s a path to support the type of breakthrough thinking that helps solve the sticky problems of the 21st-century workplace.

In this session, you will learn:

  • A quick approach to the Design Thinking model
  • How to gain new perspectives
  • How to adapt the model to your situation
  • Techniques for developing empathy; identifying and reframing problems, and generating creative ideas

Connie Malamed is the founder of the Mastering Instructional Design community. She is a consultant, author, and speaker in the fields of online learning, visual communication, and information design. She has helped nonprofit, government, and corporate clients transform their content into effective and interactive learning experiences for more than 20 years. Connie is the author of Visual Design Solutions and Visual Language for Designers, and publishes The eLearning Coach website and podcast. She was honored with the Guild Master award in 2018 for contributions to the learning technologies industry.
