707 Performance Support Tool Palooza!

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM Friday, October 22

As designers and developers, we often feel our work is done when the course (or class) content is finished. However, when the content hasn't provided tools that make it easy for people to apply what they learn to their work, we still have more work to do.

In this session we'll spend our time together examining the reasons for crafting effective performance support tools, define what they are and aren't, as well as how to do the work that informs what should be included. We'll also explore several of the many forms performance support tools can take, as well as their benefits and drawbacks that help fit the proper solution to the situation. Finally, we'll discuss key attributes that comprise effective performance support tools, design and development considerations, and ideas for how best to implement them. By the end of this session, you'll have compiled a list of perfomance support ideas, things you'd like to try, and resources.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The many forms performance support tools can take
  • Reasons for crafting effective performance support tools
  • The proper solution to the circumstance
  • How to do the work that informs creation of performance support tools

Technology discussed in this session:

Websites, development tools, apps, email, AI/chatbots, video, images
