This session will focus on the differences between Information and Instruction, and describes a series of instructional strategies using sequences or stages to provide both. These strategies create a "practice-centric" approach that requires learners to be actively involved in their instructional experience. They can be implemented with Flash or other interactive multimedia platforms. In this session, you will learn:

  • Why direct instruction is a necessary instructional strategy
  • Why you must design instruction with the human cognitive architecture in mind
  • How to design instruction that focuses attention, reduces cognitive load, and integrates into one's structure of knowledge
  • Why it is critical to provide support, and why it is even more critical to remove it
  • How to leverage learning interaction tools (even in CS4)!
