How can you effectively show in eLearning a concept or product that changes over time? How can you depict an event that occurs over time, but you don’t have the time to show the entire event to the learners? In these cases, time-lapse or stop-motion videos might be the perfect solution, and they are not difficult to develop. They do require some careful planning, but they are doable with any camera that has an interval timer, and with many cameras that don’t.
During this interactive session, you’ll see how easy it is to create time-lapse and stop-motion videos. You’ll walk through all the necessary planning and development steps for creating memorable, effective videos, and will have the opportunity to create your own video from a set of provided images. If you don’t have two computers to use during the live session, though, it’s OK; there are plenty of online tutorials for practicing these techniques, and you’ll receive links.
In this session, you will learn:
- The process of making time-lapse and stop-motion videos
- How to calculate the interval between exposures for time-lapse video
- The right times to use the affordance of stop-motion and time-lapse in eLearning
- The easiest ways to transform a set of images into a video
- How to bend and use the creativity these video types affords
Audience:
eLearning designers and developers who want to become familiar with new tools and ideas for eLearning. Designers will be able to add time-lapse and stop-motion videos to their toolbox for training design, and developers will be able to take the design and make it into something real. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and/or After Effects is helpful, but not necessary.
