Join us in welcoming our new program manager, Sierra Marquardt, to The Learning Guild team! This year is her first time working on the program for Learning Solutions Conference & Expo. We couldn’t be more excited to see all the hard work that the team has put into the event next week in Orlando!
To introduce Sierra to The Learning Guild community, we’ve asked her a few questions:
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
“It doesn't stay hidden for long, but I have an incredibly loud whistle. It comes in handy when I'm coaching high school cheer or at an Iowa football game.”
What kind of music do you like?
“I'm not too picky! I like most music and I'll listen to just about anything at an outside venue.”
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
“The people for sure! Not just my co-workers but the speakers too. I've had a few fan girl moments meeting some of the authors of my favorite L&D books.”
Where did you work before this position?
“An incredible non-profit called Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG).”
Do you like traveling? What’s the best place you’ve traveled to?
“YES! I'll never tell the name of my favorite place, but it's a sleepy little fishing village in Mexico.”
What was your favorite part about working on the Learning Solutions program for 2022?
“I've really enjoyed building an experience for attendees, from pre-cons to special events. We're creating space for everyone to find something that excites them!”
What’s your most-used productivity hack?
“I'm not sure if it's a hack but I need three different drinks (typically water, coffee, and a LaCroix) and a YouTube video of ocean sounds. That's when I really get in the zone.”
What motivates you at work?
“I'm a part of the totally awesome program team and they are a huge motivator in this role.”
What are you most excited about for Learning Solutions 2022?
“The informal learning and networking opportunities. I've missed the casual conversations in the hall over a cup of coffee!”
Are you a Disney fan? If so, what’s your favorite Disney movie?
“Absolutely, I don't think I can pick just one! I love Aladdin, Emperor's New Groove, and Inside Out.”
What advice would you give to someone who is attending Learning Solutions for the first time?
“Come say hi, the Guild team is here to help you make the most of your time! Try and do one thing each day that challenges you mentally and socially—get out of that comfort zone.”
