P01 BYOD: Building Engaging eLearning in Storyline
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, October 21
St Croix B
Storyline is a flexible, user-friendly tool for building interactive eLearning modules. It’s easy to get started building simple eLearning experiences in it, but Storyline also has a great deal of depth and nuance, allowing you to create more customized and complex experiences as your skills grow. If you’re looking to build your Storyline skills or deepen your existing ones, a little guidance can go a long way in helping you practice the “best practices” for developing engaging and interactive courses in this tool.
In this hands-on workshop you’ll learn the steps to build and publish an interactive eLearning module, and then practice those techniques so you can experiment and reinforce your new skills. You’ll focus on using the core building blocks of Storyline to create a course that contains eLearning essentials like multimedia (audio and video), closed captioning, animations, and basic quiz questions. You’ll then explore more intermediate Storyline skills, including how to build interactive slides using states, layers, and triggers. Finally, you’ll discover how to publish what you’ve created so it can easily be shared on an LMS or Review 360.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to design slides with synchronized audio and animation
- What steps to take to create and edit states to build simple interactivity
- How to develop layers and triggers for more complex interactive slides
- Ways to build basic quiz questions to check for understanding
- How to address accessibility concerns in Storyline with closed captioning
- What steps go into publishing a module for distribution through a learning management system or Review 360
