P11 BYOD: Creating Branching Scenarios in eLearning
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, October 22
St Croix A
Linear courses are fine when you have linear information that follows only one logical progression. But when you are designing content that involves complex processes or decision making, branching scenarios can be a much better way to let your learners explore and practice the concepts. Setting them up, however, can be a daunting challenge. Between figuring out what you want to accomplish to determining the logic and navigation, to setting it up in the authoring tool, to testing it all out—there's a lot to do to get it right.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll get a chance to design and build three different types of branching scenarios in either Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, or PowerPoint (you get to choose which!) You'll start with brainstorming concepts and mapping out the flow, and then move on to creating a wireframe and building the interactions. You'll walk away with finished interactions you can use as templates for future projects, along with a re-usable process you can apply to other scenarios.
In this session, you will learn:
- To determine the right type of branching for your instructional need
- To map out the process and logic on paper
- To set up branching logic in Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, or PowerPoint
- To work with storytelling and media to make your scenario come alive
- To create a plan to thoroughly test out your interaction
