Building great interactions is paramount in creating optimal eLearning experiences. Interactions help to keep your audience focused and can tremendously increase retention. Building state-of-the-art interactions in Adobe Captivate involves surprising and creative combinations of variables, advanced actions, and other features. In addition, all of these interactions must translate nicely from the huge desktop to the tiny smartphone. It can seem like an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to combine various features of Adobe Captivate to create advanced interactions with a high pedagogical value. You will also learn how to design interactions so they translate nicely to any touch device of any size. You will define various scenarios to test your interactions in a wide variety of situations so that you can chase as many bugs as possible before delivering your courses. Along the way, you will gather tips, tricks, and best practices.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to leverage the power of advanced actions, shared actions, and variables
- How to take your drag-and-drop interactions to the next level
- How to use multi-state objects to define advanced interactions
- How to use JavaScript in Adobe Captivate
- How to define test cases for your interactions
- How to make sure your interactions translate nicely to any mobile device
Audience:
Intermediate to advanced designers and
developers with basic instructional design and Captivate skills. No prior
programming knowledge is required.
Technology discussed in this session:
Adobe Captivate (latest version).
Participant technology requirements:
A laptop with the latest version of
Adobe Captivate installed (trial version is OK). Attendees will use their own
mobile devices to test their interactions.

She holds a master’s degree in education & economics and a doctorate in educational technology.

Damien Bruyndonckx, a co-founder and pedagogical director of DiDaXo, is a longtime Adobe certified instructor on Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, Acrobat, and Captivate. Damien has worked for various Adobe-authorized training centers in Europe and has contributed to many web- and eLearning-related projects for countless customers. In 2015, Damien co-founded DiDaXo. The Belgium-based company specializes in eLearning authoring with Adobe Captivate and in Captivate training all around the world. Damien is the author of four Captivate books, including Mastering Adobe Captivate 8, published in 2015 by Packt Publishing.
