P01 Design Thinking Bootcamp: A Framework for Fast, High-Quality Designs
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, October 22
St. Croix A
Designers and managers are faced with new constraints every day. The pressure to accomplish more in less time results in rushed analysis, communication breakdowns, less accountability, and lack of creativity. You need to develop more sophisticated designs that you can easily change or update to fit into the workflows you are supporting. Design thinking can help you overcome these modern-day challenges.
In this workshop, you will learn about the process of design thinking and how to use it to enhance your existing models of design. You will practice methods that increase efficiency in analysis and stakeholder consensus. You will utilize templates and tools that enhance communication among teams, and learn new ways to encourage collaboration and ideation. You will practice rapid prototyping throughout the workshop and walk away with a new design model you can apply in your work.
In this session, you will learn:
- The definition of design thinking, and how it’s applied to existing models of instructional design
- Design thinking methods for conducting analysis
- Design thinking methods for identifying stakeholders and mapping priorities and patterns for new designs
- Design thinking methods for individual and group ideation and rapid prototyping
- Design thinking methods for design formative assessments
- How to use design thinking as an artifact of communication for future designs and accountability
- Ways to effectively implement design thinking in a virtual environment
