P09 BYOL: Start-to-Finish Video Production for YouTube-Era Learners
11:30 AM - 7:30 PM ET / 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM PT Monday, June 19
Nautilus 3
As today’s learners demand rich multimedia and it becomes easier to deliver it to them, the challenge facing trainers is to have the skills to operate the modern printing press—video production equipment and editing software—and to do so on a training budget, not a Hollywood one.
Fortunately, the YouTube era has opened up new and exciting models for low-budget multimedia. In this workshop, you will learn about a cost-effective production process designed specifically for the needs of trainers with any level of video background. The workshop will cover the entire video production process from beginning to end, including: budgeting and setting up a “studio”; planning and preparing for a production or series; recording a human speaker; collecting mobile footage and interviews; saving and storing your footage; editing your footage with style; and exporting using the right codec and video settings for the job.
In this session, you will learn:
- About the minimum overhead it takes to get started in video production, including equipment, space, skills, procedures, and software
- How to use the storyboarding process, representative audience analysis, and the standard film production process
- The technical skills to shoot and edit video content using the equipment and processes outlined in the course
- To become comfortable with video files, uploading videos, and streaming them to users
Audience:
Novice to advanced designers, developers, project managers, and
managers.
Technology
discussed in this session:
Handheld, DSLR, and action cameras; microphones and recorders; lighting
options; screen capture softwares; video editing suites, particularly Adobe
Premiere Pro CC; and video editing computers, storage, and data safety.
Participant
technology requirements:
Laptop running Adobe Premiere Pro CC, which is
available as a free 30-day trial for Windows and Mac. Participants will receive
instructions on installing this software before the course and should attempt
to install it.
