P23 BYOD: Solving ID Emergencies with Photoshop and Illustrator
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, October 23
Trinidad B
Not every team has a graphic designer, and even those that do may still need instructional designers to help with photo and artwork edits. You don’t need photography or drawing skills to dramatically increase your value as an ID. You just need to take advantage of two popular design tools: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
In this workshop, you will learn fast, easy ways to use Photoshop and Illustrator to develop assets for eLearning projects. You will learn how Photoshop and Illustrator “think” and how to set up the software for ease of use. Using a sample project, you will create photo elements, repair common photo issues, and add color treatments in Photoshop. You will edit or re-create charts and design elements in Illustrator and output them as project assets. The day will be split between Photoshop and Illustrator, allowing you to leave this workshop with key development skills in both programs.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to create and manage raster files in Photoshop
- How to use both regular and adjustment layers
- How to output different asset types in both products
- How to edit existing assets in both products
- How to create and manage vector files in Illustrator
- How to manipulate points and handlebars in a vector image
- How to make various size versions of each asset
- How to re-create charts in Illustrator
Audience:
Novice to advanced designers and
developers with basic computer skills.
Technology discussed in this session:
Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Participant technology requirements:
A laptop running Photoshop and Illustrator
(a working version from within the last five years, or the demo version of the
