P11 BYOD: Video Production Intensive
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, October 23
Montego D
You’ve made videos before, but you know you can do better. Maybe things still tend to go wrong along the way or take longer than they should, and you’re never quite sure if you did it right. Maybe you wonder if you need better gear. At the end of the day, maybe you even wonder if anyone will like it. You want to improve the videos you make, and you need help.
In this day-long immersive workshop, you will have the opportunity to practice managing every element of a video eLearning project: from strategy to scripting to directing to producing LMS-friendly final content. You’ll get hands-on experience shooting and editing—and, more importantly, troubleshooting the issues that inevitably arise. Through it all, participants will work together to support one another in recognizing and working within limitations, all while making solid work you can be proud of. You’ll leave with a real video sample and a plan to take back to your job, so you can start creating your unique content right away.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to prepare talent (or yourself) for a video shoot
- How to direct or coach someone else on camera to get the best performance
- How to use lights and microphones to help the people on video look and sound their best
- What tools and techniques you can use to create, capture, and curate eLearning video
- How to plan or scope a video project for success
- How to edit video content to support your objective
- How to make mistakes without compromising your final product
Audience:
Novice to advanced designers and developers
who have recorded and uploaded at least one video (even if only a personal
video to Facebook or YouTube).
Technology discussed in this session:
Smartphones (iOS/Android) and cameras;
professional lighting, sound, and backdrops; TechSmith Camtasia, Final Cut Pro,
and Adobe Premiere.
Participant technology requirements:
A capture device (mobile, laptop, or
camera); editing software (computer or mobile); headphones (preferably with
built-in microphone); and any familiar peripherals (mics, lights, cords,
adapters, etc.) that you’ve used before.
