P17 BYOL: Smartphone Cinema for L&D
11:30 AM - 7:30 PM ET / 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM PT Tuesday, March 21
Narcissus/Orange Blossom
General video production advice is easy enough to come by, but it’s usually more complicated than you need and sometimes dead wrong for L&D. And while a slick and entertaining video may look impressive, it’s not actually effective if it’s not satisfying learning objectives. To create video content that makes a real difference for your audience, you need to leverage knowledge about how people learn and explore how to use that knowledge with a different medium. Plus, given the budget challenges many L&D professionals face, you may need to find out how to do this without spending a lot on equipment and complicated editing software.
But don’t worry. You can actually create great video for L&D using the devices you already own. In this fun and interactive workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience with designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating video-based learning that you create entirely on the phone in your pocket. In doing so, you’ll learn how to use the instructional design skills you already possess to make effective microlearning video content. The production and troubleshooting experience you gain in this collaborative and dynamic environment will demystify the world of video and enable you to use this medium in ways you may never have expected.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to record video on your smartphone or tablet
- How to easily edit video directly on your device
- The basics of publishing video eLearning
- How to troubleshoot common audio and video issues
- About a trusted framework to test your way to the best designs, scripts, specs, tools, and techniques for your unique environment
