P05 VR Designer's Workshop: Hands-on Design and Development of VR Solutions
11:30 AM - 7:30 PM ET / 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM PT Monday, June 24
Crystal
How do you design and develop a VR solution? How do you make sure your VR programs are instructional effective? How do you capture data from the VR experience? For any VR solution, the basic principles of instructional design must still be applied.
In this workshop, you will gain an understanding of the instructional design principles that work in a VR environment. You'll learn the techniques that are effective in VR, and how to blend VR learning experiences with other modalities. You'll learn how to create scenarios and activities that leverage the full 3-D world. You'll learn techniques for scripting and storyboarding, and how to enable practice and rehearsal that reinforce learning. You'll leave this session with an instructional framework that was specifically crafted to leverage the potential of VR. Finally, we'll also address disorientation, nausea, intimacy, and "uncanny valley". You will gain hands-on experience with every phase of VR solution development, including tool and vendor selection.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to design an instructionally-effective VR program
- Interactive techniques are effective in VR
- Best practices and worst practices
- How to produce an instructional model, scripts, and storyboards
- How to mix VR with other instructional modalities for a blended solution
- How to apply design thinking
Audience:
