Developing virtual reality (VR) apps doesn't have to be scary. Unreal Engine makes it easy with pre-built templates. Similar to Unity, Unreal Engine offers a unique user interface that allows individuals of disparate technical acumen the ability to create their own VR worlds
In this hands-on workshop we will demystify this robust and popular gaming engine to create and develop a simple but functional VR experience. We will work together, step-by-step, to unbox Unreal Engine's templates to develop and publish a functional VR experience that we can then test with VR viewers. (Participants will need to provide their own VR viewers for testing.)

- How to work within the Unreal Engine interface, IDE
- Basic components of a VR world
- How to use pre-built templates to develop VR
- How to publish your VR app for testing
- How to leverage Unreal's extensive community and knowledge base
- Elements to consider for when creating your next VR app

Technology required (BYOD only):
Participants should have a laptop with Unreal Engine already installed. Participants will need to create or use an existing Unreal account. Visit https://www.unrealengine.com for more details. The Unreal Engine works best with the use of a computing mouse. Participants should also bring VR viewers (Oculus Go, Google Daydream, etc.) to test their VR apps.

Michael is an expert in numerous 3-D software tools, game engines, programming languages, mobile devices, platforms, and coding frameworks. He holds two bachelor of arts degrees from the University of Oklahoma in film and Native American studies, and a master of fine arts degree in 3-D modeling from the Academy of Art University.
