601 Better Breakouts: Stop the BO Stink!

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday, August 5

Breakout rooms are an amazing tool in online instructional environments. When properly leveraged, they create the opportunity for smaller, focused activities to take place during a larger event. However, when used poorly, they can make the whole experience stink!

In this session, you'll learn when and why small group activities assist with the completion of learning objectives. You'll see examples for reflection, analysis, collaboration, role plays, case study examinations, and individual coaching. We'll discuss common challenges found in managing breakout sessions and you see how to use the example activity designs to inform and inspire your own virtual training programming. Finally, you'll be provided resource materials with detailed descriptions of each activity and step-by-step instructions so you can deliver these small group activities in your own online training sessions.
