401 Engagement Escalation: A Gameful Approach to ID

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 17

With a multitude of distractions and priorities, learners have historically struggled to maintain engagement in even the most well-designed and relevant eLearning solutions.

Using examples and techniques from gamification, this session will take you through a series of short discussions and activities aimed at discovering new ways to capture learners’ attention, gain their curiosity, and keep them coming back for more. We'll explore how to use small wins and fast actions to build motivation, ways to building connection before diving into the content, how to provide choice and multiple pathways to mastery, and how to let the learners set goals and be the hero of their learning journey. Through it all, you'll learn the best ways to approach playtesting and iterating your way to winning instructional design.
