Anyone can pull out a camera, point it at their subject, and push record. Pretty easy to make a video, right? Making a good video for learning takes a little more effort and consideration. How do you know that your video is going to achieve its intended goal? How can you save time and effort without having to redo work or waste time capturing what you won’t need. While video creation doesn’t have to be difficult, there are some processes and steps you can take to make your video creation process more efficient and targeted, and lead to the desired outcome.

During this session, we’ll look at video workflows and the steps you should consider to help you create the video you need. We’ll look at the pros and cons of writing scripts for your videos, the basics of storyboarding, and when they do and don’t make sense to use. We’ll also cover options you can exercise to create your video for a variety of video types (talking head, live-action story, and screencasts). Finally, we’ll discuss the post-production process and workflows for building the edited video into something sharable.

In this session, you will learn:

  • Tips for scriptwriting and when you might not want to use one
  • How a storyboard can cut production time and help earn early buy-in from stakeholders
  • Several workflows for recording a variety of types of videos, including talking head, live-action stories, and screencast videos
  • Editing workflow suggestions to build a video efficiently, and getting to a shareable video quickly
