As designers, we are problem solvers. To create a successful learning experience we need to first understand the problem that we are solving. Unfortunately, problems aren’t always what they seem. They are often messy and may look very different to the organization than they do to a manager or individual contributor. As learning experience designers, how do we bring together and manage these perspectives to create solutions that respond to the business need while remaining learner-centered?

In this session we’ll talk about how you can use design thinking to understand and refine problems, elicit and manage ideas from different perspectives, and rapidly prototype and test solutions. We will discuss the principles of design thinking and how it can supplement your existing frameworks and techniques. You will also have the opportunity to get some hands-on practice to prepare you to apply what you learn on your own complex, messy problems.
