Is game-based learning and gamification just another learning myth, as some have postulated? Is it a waste of time? What body of evidence exists to suggest that games and gamification promote learning? How can a learning developer ensure her games meet the needs of the learners?

In this session, we'll address those and other questions related to games and gamification for learning. We will approach the topic from an evidence-based, peer-review perspective, and examine the latest research related to games and gamification. Additionally, we’ll examine several studies discussing the effectiveness of games and gamification, and highlight when games work best for learning and when they do not. Finally we'll review an evidence-based checklist that you can use to effectively implement gamification and game-based learning for successful learner outcomes.
