Ken Thomas

Learning & Development Manager

Short, narrated “show me” videos can help a novice learn a new task in training and can also support an expert in completing a task on hand. However, the thought of creating, producing, and hosting videos for easy use in eLearning programs can be a daunting idea for many eLearning practitioners.

In this session, you’ll learn how to create and use streaming video in your eLearning and in your knowledge management system without breaking the bank. You don’t need to invest tens of thousands of dollars in studios and streaming servers to deliver high-quality training and on-the-spot performance support videos. You will discover how United Federal Credit Union’s design strategies and full production pathway allow the organization to create, edit, store, and deliver “show me” videos on a tight budget. You will also learn how this model makes maintenance more efficient.

In this session, you will learn:

  • Basic requirements for a video recording studio
  • Best practices for designing a “show me” video
  • Basic editing strategies for producing a “show me” video
  • How to use Vimeo as a semi-secure streaming video hosting service
  • How to leverage a single video for eLearning, as well as your knowledge management system
