When subject matter experts (SMEs) are asked to contribute content to a course, they typically provide too much content or content that isn’t needed to achieve the performance goals of the course. It can be challenging for instructional designers to lead stakeholders away from a text-and-next approach to a shorter, more engaging solution.
In this session, you’ll see how to shift from “Tell me, show me, let me try” directly to “Let me try,” and how to facilitate conversations with stakeholders around this approach. You will examine multiple examples of microlearning and talk through the design process from beginning to end. This session will also address mobile learning and ecosystem options for microlearning deployment. You'll walk away with strategies for immediately beginning to design microlearning solutions—solutions that will have more impact in your organization with smaller budgets and improved efficiencies—and even possibly effect a culture change by offering training that learners look forward to taking.
