Instructional Design

407

No training is more important than for those with the lives of others in their hands. Increasingly, continuing education courses are being offered to medical professionals and others in mission-critical roles online and through mobile devices. The convenience of mobile instruction is undeniable, but are learners retaining information as readily as they would through a desktop browser or in-person?

In this session you will learn about two case studies exploring the effectiveness of mobile devices for learning. You will examine the effectiveness of a custom learning management system originally deployed to veterinary surgeons in 2010, and how it has been refined and repurposed in a number of mission-critical industries in recent years. You will discuss the technological methodology employed by the platform and two approaches used in the instructional design of each project.

In this session, you will learn:

  • From two case studies on the use of mobile learning for medical and engineering occupations
  • Two separate approaches for curriculum development
  • How to use xAPI for professional certification
  • Best practices for mobile-responsive design

Audience:
Novice to advanced designers, developers, project managers, and managers.

Technology discussed in this session:
SightWorks LMS.
