Whether you’ve never used Adobe Captivate before or you’ve used it for years, there’s still lots to learn about how to get the most out of this tool. From features you haven’t fully explored to options for using media and interactivity most effectively, best practices for leveraging xAPI or SCORM, and tips for designing content to work on all devices, there’s a surprising amount of complexity to this tool that you may not have had the chance to dive deep on.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create eLearning in a new way using Captivate’s greatest strengths, as well as look at other tools that can enhance the eLearning you create. You’ll spend your time in this session working on practical exercises that will help you not only understand this tool better, but also gain experience with using these tips and features in real projects. Best yet, these activities adjust to your skill level, allowing those new to the tool an easier start while also giving more advanced users a chance to push their skills further.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What Captivate’s key features are and where to find them
  • How best to combine text, images, audio, video, and animations
  • How to engage your audience with interactivity, including free-form answers, drag-and-drop, smart learning interactions, and knowledge checks
  • How to practically apply some of the best Captivate tips and tricks
  • How to track progress using xAPI or SCORM
  • How to design projects that work on all devices

Novice to intermediate designers and developers.

Adobe Captivate 9.

Technology required:
PC/Mac with wireless Internet connectivity, running Adobe Captivate (demo version acceptable), and headphones or ear buds. A microphone is optional.

eLearning Joe

Joe Ganci is the owner and president of eLearning Joe, a custom learning company. Since 1983, he has been involved in every aspect of multimedia and learning development. Joe holds a computer science degree, writes books and articles about eLearning, and is widely considered an eLearning development guru. He consults worldwide and also teaches at conferences and client sites. Joe writes tool reviews and has received several awards for his work in eLearning, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and an eLearning Guild Master Award in 2013. His mission is to improve the quality of eLearning with practical approaches that work.
