101 Leave No Learner Behind

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM Wednesday, April 20

Salon 17

Who deserves the chance to get better at their jobs? Who deserves the chance to access the latest information in their field? Most people would answer, “everyone.” E-learning can be a great way to reach more people with your professional development offerings. But without purposeful planning, the technology could be a barrier to learners with disabilities.

Creating inclusive content is about more than just adding closed captions or checking off all the Section 508 or WCAG standards. In this session, you’ll get a deeper appreciation about the impact of your choices by experiencing assistive technology yourself and how individuals with disabilities would navigate your courses. You’ll walk away with new perspective about the decisions (and possibly assumptions) you are making and how to pivot to create more accessible offerings.

In this session your will learn:

  • How to assess the audience
  • How to assess the skill
  • How to assess the visuals
  • How to assess the mechanics
  • How to assess the language
