Senior leaders challenged the instructional design team: How might we
use design thinking and innovation to reinvent a traditional,
classroom-based leadership development program to one that offers ready,
24/7 access to learning and development resources that are targeted to
all leadership levels, from rising high-potential to seasoned senior
leader. This session describes a credible innovation process along with
innovation and design thinking tools. It explores the characteristics of
strong innovation team and describes the pitfalls of using an
innovation process, providing strategies for avoiding them.

Cathy Brown is a senior program manager, leadership development, for the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). Before joining INPO, Cathy developed leadership development programs for two Fortune 500 companies. She earned an MS in instructional and performance technology from Boise State University and a BA from Berry College. Cathy is active with the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), holding leadership roles at the Society and chapter levels. She is also active with the Atlanta chapter of Association for Talent Development (ATD).
