113 Creating a More Social Organization to Build a Learning Organization

1:00 PM - 1:45 PM Wednesday, July 21

Efforts at increasing collaboration in organizations are still plodding along. Social technology for many workers is just one more thing to check, and top-down leadership efforts gain little traction. The “continuous learning” organization seems unattainable.

For learning to become connected and continuous, we need to overcome the sociological and psychological barriers preventing workflow learning at scale. This requires that we go up a level and challenge our very organizational designs in new ways.

In this session, we will look at the unconscious systems of work that may be working against knowledge sharing. We'll discuss the long-held beliefs and biases that atrophy workers and leaders alike, preventing real gains in connection and collaboration. Finally, we will examine the three maxims that are key to creating organizational social by design.
