The ongoing disruptions caused by COVID-19 have triggered workers to rethink the role work plays in their lives, including the current status of their careers, work/life balance, long-term goals, and working cultures and conditions. The Great Resignation is the term economists often associate with these reflections and the increasing number of workers who have decided to switch employers.
In this thought-provoking panel discussion, we will explore the different factors that are driving the Great Resignation, discuss the role learning and development plays in addressing these drivers, and examine specific ways that learning leaders can support their organization as it navigates through these challenging times.

Previously he worked for more than 15 years designing and managing learning solutions with organizations such as Smartforce, Pearson Digital Learning, the SUNY Research Foundation, Aspen Dental Management, and Systems Made Simple. Mark is also an organizational social designer, helping businesses achieve the benefits of becoming more connected and collaborative to improve learning and engagement. Mark is the author of Social By Design: How to create and scale a collaborative company, and regularly presents and writes about the use of social media for learning, collaborative networks, and organizational design.
Founder and CEO
Kirsten Rourke is the founder and CEO of Rourke Training. She is on a mission to create engaging communication in the online presentation and speaking space. She works with business leaders to transform their voice, body language, and content into memorable virtual presentations. She runs a podcast and community, Ongoing Mastery: Presenting and Speaking, to support development and improvement in creating successful, targeted results in pitches, sales presentations, training, and high-stake events. Kirsten speaks on online presenting, creating adaptable teams, public speaking, and productivity at seminars and events across the country.
Learning and Development Manager
Rio Rios is a learning manager at Nike for the North America Supply Chain. In his 30-year career, he has developed learning strategies and solutions for organizations like Tactica Corp., U.S. Air Force, Intel Corp., Point S, EVRAZ NA, and Kaiser Permanente. He is passionate about cultivating learning ecosystems and bringing innovation into learning functions to accelerate and/or improve knowledge transfer. Rio has also volunteered as a leader for his community through three non-profit boards of directors and a city advisory council.
