Learning Management System (LMS) applications became popular as organizations began to implement e-Learning. People use LMSs to assign specific courses to specific learners and learner groups, register learners into courses, deliver e-Learning courses, track usage and test scores, and provide reports (as well as other functionalities). Although LMS applications are commonly used to track asynchronous e-Learning, many can be used to track synchronous, blended, and classroom instruction as well.

Implementing a LMS is a complex and time-intensive endeavor. There are many considerations, and the first consideration is whether you really need an enterprise-level LMS.
