P11 B.Y.O.L.: Creating Whiteboard Videos on a Budget

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, September 29

202

Whiteboard videos are a great way to emphasize key points through video. By recording someone drawing on a whiteboard, or sliding around images that relate to your subject, you can visually reinforce your message and enhance the learning experience.

In this hands-on workshop you will learn tips, tricks, and best practices for creating whiteboard videos on a low budget, with minimal artistic skill, and with the limited tools at your disposal. You will work collaboratively to create your own whiteboard videos. You will learn how to set up the workstation, prepare your artwork, do fewer takes, and edit your videos in post-production to achieve the ultimate goal of enhancing the learning experience. You will also explore camera selection, video editing, lighting-kit set-up, preparation of images, filming, and post-production. You will leave this workshop with a full understanding of the process and a fully rendered final product to use as your own case study.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to draw more quickly
  • Effective lighting techniques
  • Proper filming and camera set-up
  • Video editing techniques
  • How to write scripts

Audience:
Novice to advanced designers, developers, project managers, and managers.

Technology discussed in this session:
Videography, lighting, and Adobe Premiere Pro (video editing).

Participant technology requirements:
