306 Fast and Furious Project Management: Less Minutia, More Results

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 20

The battle still rages in L&D regarding how and when to use project management, with or without Agile. But successful developers know both are needed, and the battle of methods is not necessary. Agile aims to release small chunks of the full product in sprints, and project management builds out the small chunks. A project manager role in an Agile implementation increases customer success and speed. They also have the key responsibility to maintain the role of being solely responsible for the implementation of the quality-defined product.

In this session, you'll learn to be the project manager that builds quality and speed for your development team. You'll discover how to look at project management and Agile as friends not foes, and develop critical partnerships between them. Agile is powerful, but when it's time to build a release for production, you may be left alone to build 'the last mile'. This can be confusing because everyone is off to another sprint except you. What you need is a repeatable project template to quickly and accurately build the artifacts that land in your lap. In this session, you'll also practice using the Dare to Properly Manage Resources (DPMR) process with one of your own releases. Learn to be brief, empowered, and business savvy by finishing critical solutions accurately with a simple template.

In this session, you will learn:

  • To look at project management and Agile as friends, not foes
  • To create repeatable templates in project management to build deliberables
  • How to use the Dare to Properly Manage Resources template for accurate and fast development
  • To develop critical partnerships between project management and Agile
