603 Using VR to Create a Psychologically Safe Space for Learning

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Thursday, October 21

Learning can come with costly mistakes. Whether learners are expanding their understanding of D&I or learning to work in hazardous environments, making missteps on the job can damage relationships or even cause injury. How do we create space for learning while still protecting learners and their teams from the repercussions of testing out developing skills?

Virtual reality is being used by L&D departments across the world to teach new skills in spaces with no consequences. In this session, you'll explore how VR can enable your learners to have tough conversations, tackle risky situations, and enter dangerous landscapes—without ever being in danger. We'll examine several case studies of VR training in action across the globe. These examples show how VR training can save things more important than time or money; like trust and personal safety. Then, we'll work through a framework for identifying opportunities in your workplace where you can reduce risk with VR training.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The proven benefits of creating a psychologically and physically safe space for learning and training
  • Several examples of VR experiences that are creating new opportunities for learning by prioritizing the safety of learners
  • A framework for identifying opportunities to reduce risk in your learning ecosystems with VR
  • How to make a plan for implementing VR training in your workplace

Technology discussed in this session:
