P20 Measuring and Marketing Learning Outcomes
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, October 24
St Croix B
Learning professionals are often so focused on the problems they are solving with their learning expertise that they miss opportunities to both demonstrate their value to the organization and market their successes. As a result, learning investments are typically seen as costs, not strategic advantages.
The first half of this workshop will focus on how to measure the impact of learning initiatives not in L&D metrics, but in business metrics. You will learn how to determine the business metrics that matter to your organization, how those metrics relate to P&L statements, and how to align learning metrics with your organization’s KPIs (key performance indicators). The second half of this session will prepare you to market your successes internally to your key audiences to show business impact, gain support for future investments, and demonstrate how learning can directly impact business performance.
In this session, you will learn:
- How basic business metrics correlate to learning metrics
- What metrics organizations hope to impact with learning investments
- How to evaluate your organization’s market strategy and what that means for the metrics that matter
- How to frame learning metrics in terms of business metrics
- Basic product marketing skills in framing the successes of your learning initiatives
- Practices for creating and delivering marketing messages to demonstrate business impact
- Tips for amplifying your success metrics across your organization
- How to frame the same metrics to be meaningful for different audiences
Audience:
Novice to advanced designers, project managers,
managers, directors, and senior leaders (VP, CLO, executive, etc.).
