P17 Reimagining Your Organization’s Approach to Knowledge Sharing

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, November 15

204

Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, and social networks drive learning in everyday life. Rather than rely on limited-access content from a few designated subject matter experts, people have figured out how to leverage technology to tap into one another’s knowledge and experience to solve problems. However, organizations have failed to transition this concept into the workplace. Valuable knowledge remains locked inside hierarchical silos, binders, email threads, and the minds of top performers. Most organizations recognize the value of knowledge sharing, but they lack the tactical and strategic understanding to bring it to life.

In this workshop, you will gain practical guidance, suggestions, and tools to support participants as they begin to reimagine their organization’s approach to knowledge sharing. The workshop will break down and examine examples of technology-enabled knowledge sharing in real-world and corporate settings. It will facilitate a series of collaborative activities to help participants apply their newfound understanding to their own needs. Participants will leave this workshop with a road map for activating shared knowledge within their organizations.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to assess your organization’s existing knowledge-sharing landscape
  • How to communicate the value of shared knowledge, curation, and user-generated content
  • How to identify and influence key strategic partners
  • How to identify right-fit technology for scalable knowledge sharing
  • How to motivate and support ongoing user contribution
  • How to leverage shared knowledge to improve your approach to learning and performance

Audience:
Novice and intermediate project managers, managers, directors, and senior leaders (VP, CLO, executive, etc.). Participants should have a basic understanding of knowledge management, user-generated content, and related tools.

Technology discussed in this session:
Various knowledge management, sharing, and social tools.
