P20 B.Y.O.L: Develop Immersive eLearning Games with No Coding Required

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, September 29

109/110

Game-based learning has long been discussed as a way to increase engagement and retention in learning. However, the reality has been that producing game-based learning is time-consuming, expensive, and requires unique technical skills. Many eLearning developers continue to seek a no-coding environment where one can produce quality and engaging content for a reasonable budget.

This workshop will introduce you to Construct2, a fully featured game-development environment that does not require coding skills and has a reasonable learning curve. Working in small groups, you will build soft skills-focused eLearning games that are exportable to most major learning management systems. You will also learn elements of games that you can use to make eLearning more engaging.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to design an eLearning game using Construct2
  • How to create, assemble, and add assets to a game
  • How to use game design to make engaging eLearning
  • How to export a completed game

Audience:
Novice and intermediate designers and developers.

Technology discussed in this session:
Construct2 (free version for Windows), mobile devices for game demos, and animation, graphics, and sound.

Participant technology requirements:
A Windows-based laptop with the free version of Construct2 installed.
